The official Canadian Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate has been announced!

By June 2021, carriers will need to have ELDs in their fleet. It’s not too early to prepare and ensure you have your fleet outfitted. Here’s what you need to know.
The use of a certified ELD will be mandatory in Canada for federal carriers by June 12, 2021.

• If you cross provincial borders and drive under Canadian Federal Hours of Service (HOS) rules, you are a federal carrier. This also includes U.S. drivers driving within the provincial borders.
• ELDs will replace all existing paper logs used to record Hours of Service (HOS).
• ELDs will require a technical standard as outlined in the mandate and will need to be certified by a third party.
• More information will become available as we approach the deadline.
